The Provence is a hallmark Helen Kaminski hat with a 12cm brim that can be styled up or down. Featuring a hand rolled raffia tie for adjustable sizing and a neoprene band for comfort, this style rolls to pack making it a perfect travel accessory. With over 14,000 stitches of sustainably harvested Madagascan raffia and taking over three days to complete, the Provence displays the true art form of artisanal handcraft with subtle variations being unique to each hat.

We source the finest, sustainably harvested Madagascan raffia that is hand selected, washed or dyed and seamlessly crocheted with no visible seams, knots or joins. Raffia has a natural resin making it innately soft, supple and resilient; Unlike straw, raffia has longevity and won't crack or get brittle over time. Applying light steam will draw out the resin and help bring back its shape. Spot clean with a soft damp cloth and simply trim any small flyaway fibres that may pop up over time.

Styles can be adjusted with either a hand rolled raffia string around the crown or inner band and tie. You can expect to reduce the size by 1 - 2cm*. Your hat size can be determined by wrapping a measuring tape around your head (over the central forehead area, just above your ears), mimicking the natural position of where a hat would sit.
